Principal Message - Summer 2025

Dear Traeger Elementary Families,

I cannot believe this is our final newsletter of the year! This second semester has flown by.. With that comes the end of our 5th grade students’ time with us here at CTE. It has been so fun getting to know them and see them grow this year. We are excited to wish them well on their next adventure (and for most just on the other side of the building) and hope they know they are always a part of our school family!

Throughout the month of May as students continue their learning, they will participate in and work with teachers on various assessments to track their progress and see their growth in reading, writing, and math from throughout the school year. The best preparation for each of these is for students to keep on learning!

With this being our last newsletter of the year, I have a few thank yous to share:

  • Thank you to all of the students, staff, and families for welcoming me this year as your new principal! I truly love being here and serving you all!
  • Thank you to the staff for all they have done this year to make a difference with students.
  • Thank you to the phenomenal PSC for all of their support, events, and overall involvement in our school community! All that you do for everyone involved is incredible.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer spending time with family and friends, enjoying all the summer activities, and of course continuing to read, learn and grow! Over the summer it is important and helpful to remember to continue to read each day, check out education camps/programming (summer school and the library have many great options!), play games involving math, sight words and more! We look forward to seeing you all next school year.

Wishing You Well,

Kristin Burgert

News from the Art Room

Hello Traeger Families! Spring brought a flurry of activity to the Art room!

We had two more art shows to celebrate. The first show was called Art Fest, and located at the Oshkosh Public Library during the month of April. Students who represented Traeger Elementary were: Kinlee V., Ellie B., Sonny S., Owen B., Maddux H., Bentley N., Henry C., Ryland C., Olivia W., Charlie M., Kammie D., Lincoln H., Mikeyana M., Ava A., Claire A. and Mariyam T.!

The second showis hung at Central Administration for the OASD on Eagle Street. This year our 5th grade clay dragon eyes turned out so awesome that I took photos of five of them to hang up at Central for the year. These students even got recognized at a school board meeting: Blasa O., Rylee S., Inara K., Lucille R. and Owen B.

The other exciting piece of news is that painter and mural artist Leif Larson came to CTE to do a large mural with our ENTIRE SCHOOL in April! We had an amazing time creating it and we have deep appreciation for our own PSC and the SOAR board for funding this event. Thank you!!

With much gratitude-

-Mrs. Harmon

4. Fundraiser/Event Updates

● Restaurant Day-Eaton’s Pizza (February 21st)- Karisa-Raised $265. This continues
to be a great partnership and is very successful.
● Traeger Herd Night (March 1st)-Nichole-$118 was brought in (more than budgeted).
This is a very easy and fun event. Nichole will start looking at 2 dates for next year
once the Herd’s schedule is released.
● 3-5 Concert Flower Sale (March 11th)-Nichole-Raised $275 for Field Day. Nichole
purchased 18 bundles of flowers (9 flowers in each) and more could have been sold if
they had been available. There were some concerns raised regarding the equity of
the flower sale, as not everyone can afford to purchase them. We will continue this
discussion at a future meeting and continue to think of ways to make things equitable
for all. Do we want to consider a photo booth for the Fall concert? A decision needs to
be made as to where money from future concert fundraisers will be allocated.
● Restaurant Day-Panda Express (March 24th)-We did not meet the $100 minimum
required, so we did not earn any proceeds.

5. Moving Playground Fund-The School District will now be maintaining all playground up-keep. Where do we
want to shift the money that we raise from the Post-Concert Socials? We will need to vote by the end of the
year. Kristin will check to see if maintenance of the Musical Playground is included in this.
