Principal Message - September 2025

Dear Traeger Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year and to our Carl Traeger Elementary School Family! I hope you had an enjoyable and fun summer while staying safe and healthy! The new school year will begin in a few days and we are so excited to welcome all the students back into the building. We are looking forward to seeing you all at Open House on Wednesday between 4-6pm. I know I can speak for the entire Traeger Elementary staff when I say we are excited and ready to begin another great year of learning with all of our students and families!
Here is a link to our Carl Traeger Elementary School Family Handbook. This contains a lot of information about our school and is a great resource to hold onto.
Each month, a school-wide newsletter will be published to our school website and a link sent to families in Infinite Campus. This communication will contain a variety of information from myself, staff in the building, groups, community events, and much more.
Each week, families will get an IC message with key highlights of important information or things to know for the week ahead. This won’t be a separate document like last year, but rather right there in the IC message.
Just a few reminders: On the first day of school, you will be able to recognize staff members on the first day in navy blue Traeger Timberwolf t-shirts, so please let us know if you have any questions or need any help! Teachers will meet K-5 students in a designated area of the blacktop by the basketball courts the first three days of school (4K meeting plan will be communicated by 4K staff). Teachers will be holding a sign with their name. Parents/guardians who want to walk their kids to the playground should PARK IN THE LOT. The circle drive is for kids who are able to exit their vehicle INDEPENDENTLY and walk to the playground blacktop. Beginning the fourth day of school, September 5th, all students may enter the building at Door 21 starting at 7:30. The playground is NOT open before school. Students should not be dropped off early as staff supervision does not begin until 7:30. The first bell will ring at 7:40 signaling for students to line up if they are not there yet. Parents/guardians are welcome to stand with their student until they head into the building with their teacher.
***In case of rain on the first three days of class, students in grades 1-5 should go in Door 21 and go straight to class. Staff will be available to help get students to the right class. Kindergarten students should come to the main entrance and staff will escort them. Parents/guardians will not be allowed into the building to escort their child to class to follow our safety and security protocols.
The school day ends at 2:45pm. Just a reminder that all families need to wait outside of the building for students as they will be dismissed by their teacher. Students walking, biking, or getting picked up on the playground will exit out their pod door near the playground with their teacher. Students without supervision are not able to stay after school to play on the playground. Students that attend after care at Traeger will head to the cafeteria and students utilizing the Y walk to the YMCA will walk to the back of the building to meet a supervisor to help them cross safely. Students picked up in the circle drive will have their pick up numbers called beginning at 2:40 and will exit the front doors to be picked up when your vehicle pulls to the front.
Kindergarten Families: Be sure to check and confirm you know which first day of school your child will be attending. Kindergarten students were sent their staggered start for the first day earlier in August. Students attend either September 2nd OR September 3rd. All kindergarten students attend together beginning on September 4th. If you have questions or are unsure, please contact your child’s teacher or call the main office.
The Traeger Elementary Staff and I look forward to a successful school year of growing and learning together! We thank you for your continued support of our school and the students' learning this year.
Wishing you well,
Kristin Burgert, Principal

LET'S GET TO KNOW OUR NEW STAFF HERE AT CARL TRAEGER !

Meet: Brenna Masloroff, Empower Special Education Teacher

I'm a first year teacher, who just graduated this past spring. I'm from Franklin, Wisconsin, right outside of Milwaukee. Growing up there was my mom, dad, sister, and dog (Bailey!!) in my house. We did lots of road trips out east, my favorite vacation spot being Washington DC. The vacations slowly transitioned into sports trips to support my dad, an international softball umpire, and my sister and I, being a thrower on UWO's track and field team.
My hobbies include coaching track and field, hiking, puzzles, working out, and spending time with friends and family.
My favorite color is yellow, food is chicken parmesan, candy is kitkats, and animal is a hippopotamus.

Meet: Cassi Robl, Library Media Specialist

Hello! My name is Cassi Robl and I am so excited to be joining Traeger's school family this year as the Library Media Specialist. Some things I enjoy include reading, playing pickleball, yoga, hiking, traveling, and trying new coffee shops. I grew up in Oshkosh, attending OASD schools K-12 (I am actually a Traeger alumni). I taught 1st grade in the Oshkosh School District for the past three years. I got my undergraduate degree in Elementary/Middle Education and Spanish Education at UW La Crosse. I am excited to support students in this role by fostering a love of reading, encouraging curiosity and creativity, and helping integrate technology and media into our learning environment.
I can’t wait to make it a great school year!

Meet: Jamie Johnson, Special Education Teacher

I grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin and still visit my extended family there as often as I can. My husband, Jim, and I have 2 young adult children. Grace, age 24, is married to Danny and they live in Oshkosh. Our son, Sam, is 21 years old and works at Little Caesars. This is my 30th year of teaching! I have been a first grade teacher, second grade teacher, a Literacy Specialist, and currently am a special education teacher.
I love to read, as well as listen to audiobooks while going on walks. I like to read children's books and am always on the lookout for new books that my students will enjoy reading or listening to. I enjoy painting rocks and setting them around town for people to find.

News from the Art Room
Hello Traeger Families! Spring brought a flurry of activity to the Art room!
We had two more art shows to celebrate. The first show was called Art Fest, and located at the Oshkosh Public Library during the month of April. Students who represented Traeger Elementary were: Kinlee V., Ellie B., Sonny S., Owen B., Maddux H., Bentley N., Henry C., Ryland C., Olivia W., Charlie M., Kammie D., Lincoln H., Mikeyana M., Ava A., Claire A. and Mariyam T.!
The second showis hung at Central Administration for the OASD on Eagle Street. This year our 5th grade clay dragon eyes turned out so awesome that I took photos of five of them to hang up at Central for the year. These students even got recognized at a school board meeting: Blasa O., Rylee S., Inara K., Lucille R. and Owen B.
The other exciting piece of news is that painter and mural artist Leif Larson came to CTE to do a large mural with our ENTIRE SCHOOL in April! We had an amazing time creating it and we have deep appreciation for our own PSC and the SOAR board for funding this event. Thank you!!
With much gratitude-
-Mrs. Harmon
