Principal Message - April
Dear Traeger Elementary Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful spring break! I cannot believe it is April already. It is so crazy to think that we have 9 weeks of school left this year.. The time is going to fly by!
The first week in April kicks of Support Staff Appreciation Week! At Traeger Elementary, we spend this week recognizing all of our amazing support staff members. We could not do the work we do everyday without them! Their dedication, strong work ethic, smiling faces, and passion for helping our students helps make our school a wonderful place to be. If you see any of those staff members this week, please give them an extra thank you for all they do each day!
Forward Exam testing will be continuing throughout the month of April for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Please avoid scheduling appointments for your son or daughter during their testing dates/times if at all possible, especially in the morning as that is when we will begin testing each day. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you need specific testing times for a specific day. The general testing window that remains is as follows:
- 3rd Grade: April 8-10, 15 & 16
- 4th Grade: April 15 & 16
- 5th Grade: April 3 & 4, 8-10
As we get into the final 9 weeks of school, we appreciate your partnership in continuing the great habit of reading at home. Having daily opportunities for your student to engage in reading is the practice they need to do their best on these assessments and end of year units. If you're not in the best routine for reading at home, I encourage you to talk to your student about reading and what works for your family. You can also reach out to your student’s teacher and they can help guide you in a plan that may work for your family.
Sincerely,
Kristin Burgert

News from the Art Room
Hello Traeger Families!
We have two exciting Art events in April this year!
First, ArtFest is an elementary art show that takes place in the Oshkosh Public Library’s lower level. Many Traeger Elementary students will have work on display, and those students will be notified by a certificate that will be sent home. Check out the poster below for more information!
The other exciting piece of news is that painter and mural artist Leif Larson will be coming to CTE to do a large mural with our ENTIRE SCHOOL in April! When it is finished it will hang in the hallway between the Music room and the gym. We have deep appreciation for our own PSC and the SOAR board for funding this event. Thank you!!
Items needed for the Art room:
-
Amazon gift bags for a Rajasthani Indian puppet project
-
Bubble wrap/bubble wrap mailing envelopes for sending home clay projects
-
Yarn - Any type, color or amount
With much gratitude-
-Mrs. Harmon
Another school favorite is our annual Bingo Night! Mark your calendars for this fun, family-friendly event on Friday, April 25th. The event sells out and walk-ins are not available, so be sure to signup once registration opens!
We are in need of an Adult Raffle Basket Coordinator. This person(s) will collect donations for adult raffle baskets from CTE families and assemble if needed, and put out baskets at the event and sell tickets throughout. You’re welcome to have volunteers help. We have other volunteer positions that will be posted on PTBoard soon!

4. Fundraiser/Event Updates
● Restaurant Day-Eaton’s Pizza (February 21st)- Karisa-Raised $265. This continues
to be a great partnership and is very successful.
● Traeger Herd Night (March 1st)-Nichole-$118 was brought in (more than budgeted).
This is a very easy and fun event. Nichole will start looking at 2 dates for next year
once the Herd’s schedule is released.
● 3-5 Concert Flower Sale (March 11th)-Nichole-Raised $275 for Field Day. Nichole
purchased 18 bundles of flowers (9 flowers in each) and more could have been sold if
they had been available. There were some concerns raised regarding the equity of
the flower sale, as not everyone can afford to purchase them. We will continue this
discussion at a future meeting and continue to think of ways to make things equitable
for all. Do we want to consider a photo booth for the Fall concert? A decision needs to
be made as to where money from future concert fundraisers will be allocated.
● Restaurant Day-Panda Express (March 24th)-We did not meet the $100 minimum
required, so we did not earn any proceeds.
5. Moving Playground Fund-The School District will now be maintaining all playground up-keep. Where do we
want to shift the money that we raise from the Post-Concert Socials? We will need to vote by the end of the
year. Kristin will check to see if maintenance of the Musical Playground is included in this.
6. VOTE Committee Chairs (Andrea Fisher)
● Nominations brought forward: Vice President-Megan Paulick, Treasurers-Jolene
Halbach & Nick Zanders, Communication & Outreach Coordinator-Kelly Zanders
● All motions passed for Megan Paulick, Jolene Halbach, Nick Zanders, and Kelly
Zanders. Congratulations!

$74 for pizza for Budget Meeting, Restaurant Days have brought in $1,543 + Eaton’s Pizza so far this year
(way ahead of what was budgeted). $150 in donations for Staff Appreciation Week have been received. Jolene
reviewed the 2025-2026 budget. Questions regarding Field trip expenses and Brighten Someone’s Holiday
